How Gym Membership Works

All gym memberships are month-to-month, there are no long-term contracts. There is no risk!  You’ll have 5 days to cancel with a full refund if you’re not satisfied.

Your credit/debit card will be charged a one-time initiation fee of $100 plus the first monthly membership fee.  Your card won’t be charged the monthly fee again until a month after the day you enroll.  Join as a couple and your initiation fee covers both of you—a $50 savings per person.

Join as an individual for a one-time initiation fee of $100 plus the first month's membership fee.

We have a decent amount of cardio equipment, a handful of strength machines and a little bit of free weight equipment.

A workout is a terrible thing to waste.

There are lots of gym options out there.  Most operate on the principle that the more machines, stuff, bells and whistles they offer, the greater the gym.  There’s no doubt certain attractive amenities abound at your average 10,000 square foot facility.  It’s almost universally accepted, though, that such places are a real mixed-bag.  Heated lap pools.  Banks of TVs covering every wall.  Saunas.  Indifferent staff.  Parking hassles.  General inaccessibility.  Long-term contracts.  Confusing terms. Variable rates.  Over-crowding.  Needless to say, none of these gyms offer a more meaningful way to work out.

The Green Microgym Belmont offers its members a green gym with a friendly, community feel. We are located right in your neighborhood, so you can bike or walk here. The most unique thing about our gym is that the actual energy of the members helps power the building. It makes pretty good sense. You don’t need a ton of energy-sucking machines to get a good workout. We are machines. You power your workout. The energy bar one member just ate powers the ceiling fan for the next three hours. Another member’s morning scramble is doing its part to keep the lights on. Every revolution on the elliptical is churning pure electricity back to the grid.  Calories are converted into precious watts. You power your gym. Friends and neighbors, sweating it out together, all in the name of feeling good: about themselves, about their community, about their gym and about the world.

Brandie Sylfae

AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, Integrative Health Coach

I have been exploring paths to wellness for more than twenty years. I have always been physically active; dancing since I could walk. I earned my second degree black belt from Chuck Norris when I was sixteen and began teaching aerobics at eighteen. I started my career as a researcher, developing an understanding of the body at a molecular level through the study of cancer biology, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease. When I decided to move from cells to the whole body, I became an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer.

Working with my clients, it became apparent that some of them had issues outside of the gym that were keeping them from reaching their goals, so I started having “talk sessions” with them. These sessions led me to further my education and enroll in the Integrative Health Coach program at the Duke University School of Integrative Medicine.

As an Integrative Health Coach, I have worked with people of all ages, helping them set achievable goals with respect to not only their bodies, but also careers, spirituality, self-care, families, and other areas that are important to them. All of these points are important to a complete and healthy person. My unique method combines traditional coaching techniques with a knowledge of human biology, nutrition, exercise, herbal remedies, and behavior modification to help my clients achieve and maintain whole health, a balance between body, mind, and spirit.
